Mom’s Do This Now & Smile Later

I started doing this when my older kids were little, and I smile every single time I go back and look at it. This simple little thing adds so many memories, as moms we are busy and we think, awww, that was so cute, I will cherish that forever and 10 minutes later, we forget it.
So, what is this tip?
We started doing this after my sister gave me a book, which I have since lost. Along with a lot of what I recorded. But now I use the notes section on my phone, and I pinned this particular note.
When the kids are playing, or we are chatting, or I over hear them saying something, singing something, or even yelling something. If it is one of “those things” I record it. I stop what I am doing and write down what they said, and if it’s a phonetical uniqueness, I spell it out how they said it.
This simple “task” is used to bring smiles to all of us later. WE all lovingly call it, Things Kids Say. Every so often my kids will ask me to read the live journal of their silly sayings, unique pronunciations and we all giggle at the statements, never judging, and I sit in awe of how much they’ve grown since they said those silly things.
Some of the cutest little statements include:
Mommy I want to go to the bounce-o-line place!
Please get MY a drink.
It’s FROGGY outside (2 of my kids called it this)
I love Cup-A-Cakes!
Did she MISS-A-PEAR? (referring to a Star Wars hologram transmission ending).
Mommy, you know what, if your heart breaks it can grow back.
How cute are these examples, some words misspoken, some profound statements, and some words I think are even more correct than what we use. I think we should adopt, cup-a-cakes as a real word! Don’t you?
Taking a few minutes to record moments that need to be memories, can really help you smile, share those with your kids, spouse, family and friends. A way to preserve those few years where they are so small and have such big imaginations.
